This is probably a very late comment but I have to agree Wordpress is a great platform. I use HostICan which utilizes the 1 click install for Wordpress and numerous other programs through Fantanstico.

As for the apples versus apples, Adsense is available on any platform you use as long as you understand how to enter the codes in the necessary places.

Also, I have yet to figure this out but there are several Wordpress sites out there that have been able to merge affliate programs into their pages, such as astore from Amazon.com as seen on The Digerati Life.

Thanks Belajar for your comment.

But I wasn't trying to compare apples to apples.

This post is not intended to be a product review or compare third party hosted blogging platforms. Rather its intention is to let people know what is a better solution for blogging.

Comparing apples with oranges is fine because of the intent.

To get best apple to apple comparison, you should compare blogger.com with wordpress.com.

Assuming that you compare both free blogging tools and hosts, then blogger.com has the advantage of generating you money from pay per click advertising such as adsense.

Another advantage is that if you host your own wordpress blog -( which can be very easily set up via fantastico server extensions) blogger/google cannot shut you down on their whim.
If you are going to put work and time into your blog this is a good reason to host your own wordpress blog.
