Question: If all you have is $100 - how would you market your blog?
Step 1: I would do exactly what I already did to promote this blog: get a “goodie” developed that people can link to.A (I asked my programmer to create the “Buy me a Beer” WordPress plugin.A It took him less than a day to create the plugin.)
Some Goodie Ideas for You:A
- A cool plugin.
- A a_?Top 10a_? link-bait article.
- A viral quiz.
- A widget generator.
- An online game.
- A meme.
- A comprehensive report.
The trick is to connect your goodie with your blog topic and the audience you intend to attract.
Step 2: I would then contact a few blogs and tell them about my goodie.
Important note: A-list bloggers won’t link to your blog.A But they will link to your goodie!

The programmer who coded the beer plugin - Sherief - works for me full time. You may however be able to find someone from rentacoder.com who can help you.

BTW, how the “buy me a beer” plugin works (if not secret)? Is it making more bucks than adsense on this blog?

Jan: Thanks for commenting. Yes the beer plugin does earn more on this blog than Adsense. How it works is simple: when your readers click on it, they are taken to the PayPal payment page where they can donate money to you.
The beauty of it is: many people won’t mind buying you a beer. But they would mind if you simply asked for donations! So simply, by being specific in asking for donations, you should double your earnings from this one stream of income.
