My Blog Adsense Strategy
If you're new here, you may want to subscribe to my RSS feed. Thanks for visiting!
On this blog, I’ve placed Adsense ads in three places:
1. Just above the Title of all blog posts.
2. In the Sidebar.
3. Above Comments in the single post pages.
Because of that, one of the most common questions I get (especially from beginner bloggers) is: should they place Adsense on their blogs too?
Should You Place Adsense Ads on Your Blog?
My answer:
- Yes place Adsense ads on your blogs.
- But not to make money from it.
- But to increase traffic to your blogs.
Adsense is not a good source to make money. The payout on average is $1 to $1.5 per 1000 page views. So if you receive 10,000 page views a month, you will earn a whooping $10! Maybe good for a pizza. Not something you can retire on.
So why use Adsense at all?
1. Adsense ads are the most “relevant” ads. I like Adsense over other ad networks or manual ad placement only because of that one reason: relevancy.
2. But the main reason to place Adsense (or any other ads) on your blog is: to increase your blog traffic.
Any money I make from Adsense, I pump back into promoting this blog.
Action Summary:
- Place Adsense codes on your blog. But don’t expect to make a lot of money out of it.
- Use the little money you earn from Adsense to promote your blog. (Read this blog regularly and I’ll share with you the best places to pay and promote your blog.)

Well, I’ve never been an average person
And it seems that my AdSense revenue is much above, then.
Recently, I startet www.sjovesider.com (funny pages). I already had a list of 250 people subscribed, and 150 of them visited the page, which made me $20 on the first day. It has made me $77 in Juin, but still there are very little content online. (22 short articles actually.)
I’m not unique. Many people can do the same. And I would be surprised if you didn’t make much more than $10 per month with AdSense - just you wait and see

Thanks Britt.
There is a difference between unique visitors and total page views. You may have had 150 unique visitors. But your total page views may be very high. Even then, your adsense eCPM looks very high (I don’t think each of your visitor might have surfed through 100 pages… seeing that you just have 22 pages). You may have been blessed with viewers who click on very high paying ads a lot.
I’ve sent you an email to reconfirm some of your statistics.
($133.33 per 1000 unique visitors is unheard of. Even bloggers like Steve Pavlina just make $7 per 1000 unique visitors.)

I have several blogs, I use Adsense on all of them to some degree at least. On most of them they don’t make anything worthwhile, I rely on my other bigger sites to bring in the revenue from Adsense

Brian: Thanks for commenting. You could create a URL channel with adsense. Which will tell you exactly how much each of your blog earns. And then re-invest exactly that much amount to promote that URL.
Jamie: Thanks.

My first time visit to your blog. I guess via the footer plugin that you have released. I tried putting it on my site, but does not work…
However, the reason for this comment was I use the same strategy for adsense. What ever I make via adsense I put back into increasing traffic. My next adsense money will be put into simple thoughts translator plugin which is a very good SEO tactic to increase traffic to blog. What say ?

Trakin: thanks for commenting. Have you written a post after installing the feed footer plugin? The plugin adds footers only to the new posts.
About the translator plugin, I’ve never tested one out - although it seems like a good idea if the translation is not dynamic and search engines can crawl the translated pages. If you test the plugin out, please let me know how you fare with it. Thanks.

Great tips. But from my experience, I managed to get around $400 per month. That is until my site has to go down due to infringement issues. Now I’m back again and wanted to see how much can I earn this time. And yes, its just for fun.

Well, the thing about Adsense is you face smart pricing issues if your CTR is low. Maintain your CTR and Google will value your clicks. I recommend keeping your Adsense CTR up at about 3%.
