If you are serious about blogging, you’ve got to have your own domain name! Seriously - go check your RSS feed. And tell me: how many of your feeds that you read frequently are of blogs that don’t have its own domain name?
Many people won’t take you seriously if you don’t have your own domain name. But I aim to change that: at least for one of you. One lucky blogger will win a free domain name for his blog!
Who Can Enter the Win-A-Free-Domain Contest?
Anyone who runs a free blog on blogspot or livejournal or wordpress.com or xanga or any other similar free service.
Note: Your free blog has to be at least one month old.A You can’t simply put up a blog today for the chance of winning a free domain name.
How To Enter the Contest?
1. Tell your readers about any one post that you liked on this blog. If you can’t decide your favourite post, than simply review this blog. And link to that post and/or this blog.
2. Send a trackback to this post. Or send me an email - with “domain contest” in the subject line. (If you do send a trackback, you will also get a linkback to your blog. As all my trackbacks are crawled by the search engines.)
3. On 1st September, I’ll choose a winner with the help of random.org.
4. The winner gets a free gift card from GoDaddy.com that can be used to buy a domain name.
(Disclosure: I myself don’t use GoDaddy for my domain names.A But my domain registrar doesn’t provide gift cards.A So I’ll be using GoDaddy for this contest.)

While I commend you on the gesture - offering something free - you might want to consider upping the prize — after all, a domain can be had for only $8.95. Maybe throw in a few months of free hosting to sweeten the deal?

I need the money yaar.Dont have a domain name sigh.But i will work out with .I will try making a blog with blogger.Thats the only way i can do.You are reaaly inspiring man.Lets see if you give me your token if i impress you .I will be writing back to you .

David: Thanks for your excellent suggestion. I started this contest without thinking too much when I read a comment on my blog about a person not buying a domain name for his blogspot blog…
In hindsight, it would have been a much better idea to up the ante. Not sure if I’ll do it now. Maybe let this contest pass and then come up with another much bigger contest after some time that is “worth” it.

UnfortunatelyIncidently, the contest winner won’t be someone who impresses me. It’ll be someone chosen randomly from the people who link to one of my posts.However, if you participate, your chances seem pretty bright. This hasn’t been a very successful contest and only a handful of people have participated yet. So your chances of being randomly selected are pretty high!

I reviewed your site. I wouldn’t have done it if this contest wasn’t interesting for me since :
- first, i’m lazy and my blog is not updated at all so I should go on before
- secondly, the subjects are totally different (which is the best reason of both I admit ^^)
Anyway, that doesn’t mean that I’m not interested in your blog ! On the contrary (as I’m french and that my english is not perfect ^^) I find it is the clearest blog that I’ve seen on the subject ! As I told it in my review, you cover various subjects (not all the time about money !) and always useful things. That’s (nearly, since I’ve decided to be honest as you gueesed ^^) perfect !
Keep going on this way, I’ll probably be back later since I’d like to create a new blog soon
Oh and by the way, my address is not on Wordpress or stuff like that but I’m using Dotclear which is also a free solution and I host it myself. I’ve already a domain name (I had for free like my hosting !) which is busy with my portfolio so i’d like a real one for my blog
I hope you’ll consider that I have all requirements for this contest
